Holly’s Scarf

I am currently working on a scarf for Holly. I am also trying to do one for my mother but I am having the worst time finding a pattern that looks decent in the color scheme of cotton yarn I chose for her. Since she is allergic to wool its always fun to work with cotton….NOT!

I also was trying to use Moss Stitch pattern for Holly’s scarf the directions SO MISLEADING it ended up turning into a K1P1 rib stitch some how so if anyone has any help please let me know!

I also bought a ball winder, a skein holder, niddy noddy and a noseprine within the last month and a half to help with my knitting. I’m trying to get through my stuff before I buy more for my stash but apparently my stash has outgrown my basket so I’m going to have to make a wall unit to hold my yarn and color coordinate them since I LOVE TO ORGANIZE EVERYTHING BUT MY DESK :D

Hair Cut and Scarf Making

9.jpgI got my hair cut today I’ll see if I can take any decent pictures where I am okay with putting them up. But its a bob in the front and short in the back.. i’ve put a picture in the post of the hair cut image I used to bring to my stylist. It is exactly how the image to the left came out I love it. I’ve also been working on my scarf the broken rib stitch. Omg I  cannot believe how many mistakes I’ve made. Half a section is purled then knitted I’m like ugh. Then where I should have done an entire row of knitting I purled. I hadn’t noticed until way later so what I had to do instead was incorporate that into the design so it doesn’t look horrible. So it works and doesn’t look too bad except I’m not so good at counting how many rows I’ve done so I’m eyeballing how long in between adding the extra mistake it is for each.

I’m coming back into the full swing of things tomorrow. I’ve literally done 2 hours worth of work today and in those 2 hours I did like a week worth of work. Once I get started I bang that crap out. There are a lot of little things I have to do but I’m like ugh. I have to set up half a dozen contests and what not so this should be fun!

Not so Sick!

So I am on the mend which is great since I’ve been able to do a bit more. I have ordered a custom pillow to be made from an Etsy shop owner for the hideous but adorable couch I have. I’m feeling a lot better. I have to start my knitting up again since I was so sick and sweaty everything I was knitting was turning to poop!

Fil bought the Army of Two video game for the XBOX 360 OMG IT IS SO ADDICTING! We are in need of a 2nd XBOX and a 2nd TV. The 2nd tv doesn’t have to be fancy since its only for Fil for his XBOX I’ll get the big one. But I want to be able to play video games with him and his brother too since I’m not half bad. Well I am horrible now since I haven’t played for a while but since I’ve been playing again I’ve been getting so much better.

I’ve also been working a lot of PJM. It’s exciting to see all the new additions to the site. I’ve been creating meme’s, carnivals, new connections. I am working with the people of Kung Fu Panda and Tostito’s for some amazing contests! I’m so excited! I’ve also started to work with EA Games as well. This is all super exciting and I’m so happy to be doing more with the site.

Although the site is doing great in Google I need to do more which is hard since how much more SEO optimization can one really do? Its enough to make your head explode.  I also received all my Kamibashi Dolls so I really need to get miss SHEENA to help me finish up Shop Honey Bee!! PLEASE!!!

Sick as a Dog!

I am currently sick as a freaking dog. This isn’t even a little sick this is I am deathly sick. My glands are swollen, I cant breathe without risking a coughing fit and I blow my nose like 8094389048309 times a minute. The good thing is I feel a little motivated to work. The bad thing is if I sit here for to long I get worse since its way too much stress for the whole thinking thing.

I finished Jean’s scarf but unfortunately forgot to take pictures of it. It was the basic Stockinette Stitch so don’t get too crazy. It was a pain in the butt too since it was cotton and unless your needles are nice and pointy it is not easy to get those darn stitches to move!

I spent about a week untangling my new yarn from Knitting Misadventures. It was just one hank but I need a niddy noddy which I ordered one and should be expecting to receive it any day now. I’ll order some more later and one of those noseprines  thingies. I know I completely misspelled it but whatever.

I’m too tired to get up and take a picture of my newest work.   This is a picture of it to the left. If you buy it from Yarn Country  you’ll pay $7.65 I bought it at my LYS and paid $11.95 which may seem like a lot but they help me out and teach me a lot so I do not mind spending the couple extra dolls to help them stay in business!  The yarn is beautiful and I am trying out a new stitch with it the broken rib stitch. It is looking pretty good so far. so I really enjoy it. The bat part is the yarn tends to untwist it self and get really fat in some parts. But it is preparing me to work with my own handspun yarn and others. So I am happy with it. Plus it is coming out beautiful. The colors are absolutely gorgeous.  You definitely should pick up some. I needed 3 balls for a decent length scarf, as its only 128YD’s per ball. So please purchase wisely.

It’s Almost Payday!

Purchased Wool RovingThe first is pay day for me, tomorrow is pay day for Fil. I don’t know for sure if I’m getting paid from my new job tomorrow or not since their pay periods are funky so I may not or I may it’ll be a surprise! Wee!! I went Etsy crazy again. I worked out with Julia’s Yarn I’m just going to buy wholesale from there since my orders were huge and it just worked out easier for us. I attempted to use one of the skeins but it became a knotted mess so I need to goto the knitting store and have them show me how to properly unravel it so I can wind it to a ball. Speaking of which I need a yarn winder. I am testing out some new roving when I get my wheel together. MY class is tomorrow and I also bought a Drop Spindle (more about that later) for when I have to give the wheel up! The Roving to the left is from Mary Jane’s Attic I Wool Rovingbought two pounds so I can really play around and not be worried about my supplies. If I like it I may buy more! I also went and bought another pound from Fresh Water Fibers to see if I like their stuff better. It all depends on who has what and which one I like better or I’ll just buy in bulk from both WHO KNOWS!? I was her first sale! I am so excited for her! This is her first time on Etsy! So I hope she gets lots of course until my knitting store is ready .. then she can sell her stuff to me and I sells them and become a bajillionaire! I’m greedy like I should be hahaha! Everyone should be a bit greedy when it comes to their hopes and dreams of making money! :) I of course bugged my friend over at Must Keep Knitting and bought some more of her stuff. I can’t help it. Her stuff is just too cute I hate her for making it cute! MAKE SOMETHING UGLY SO I WONT BUY IT GOSH!!!

Hydrangea YarnIrish Stitch MarkersLily Pad Stitch Markers
Those are the goodies I got from Must Keep Knitting. I didn’t want anyone to get my stuff so I put the order in! Muahaha! SpindleIts all my now! Last but not least is the Drop Spindle I ordered just incase when I have to return the wheel I cant exactly afford YET to just go out and spend like $400 on another one! Since I have 2 root canals, and about 6 fillings on top of finishing up my debt, taking Fil to the dentist, buying the stuff for Honey Bee and car insurance :) I bought this lovely Spindle from Maine Woods Fibers everything you see is what I ordered. It was one order and not a bad price either she has others so check her out! I love the fact that she gives you enough roving to play around with. I am a safety monitor in the sense that I work with what they recommend in the beginning before I go crazy and start trying some other stuff.

I am excited! I can’t wait to do even more shopping :|

Update on Scarf and Yarns as Promised

scarf v.4.0If you click this it will expand to a larger image where you can see my scarf more clearly. It is the 4th version of this scarf as I cut and threw out the other attempts. This one has the least amount of mistakes: 1 small hole from a dropped stitch, 1 funky stitch where i knitted where i should have purled and vice versa where I caught it too late and 1 funky attempt to add a second skein to the first one and it got all weird. But you can’t really see them because of the ribbed pattern so I am happy with it. It’s almost done I’m going to use pretty much the entire skein since I don’t really want to use this yarn for anything else as it is cheap coarse yarn and want to move on to the fancier items.

Julia’s Craft ShopJulia’s Craft ShopJulia’s Craft ShopSugar’n Cream

All images are click able for better depiction of color. However the first 3 images is my first order from Julia’s craft store. She finally got back to me and this yarn is pretty interesting it takes anywhere from a 0-3 US Needle. I ordered a bunch more since its only 220 yrds per skein. and I’m nervous I’ll start a scarf or a project and wont have enough. So my next order as all those skeins cost $59.50 is a $169.50 order! Wait they’ll get bigger as I love her freaking yarn!

The last image is all cotton sugar ‘n cream. The first color (blue) is called demin wash the second is keylime pie. I chose the blue for a scarf for my sister in law. Each skein is 125 YDS which isn’t on their packaging at all I had to surf the web for it. The key lime pie is for my MOMMA I want to make her a scarf too. Hopefully theirs wont have any mistakes!

Hooked On Etsy

Okay I’m an Etsy-A-Holic. I Just went out and bought out another boutique unfortunately the meanie re-stocked with even more yarn that I must have. Unfortunately Pay Per Post is being a brat and I cant get my $160 from their stank PPPDirect since I cannot put in the fact that I wrote the article. This is so obnoxious so I can’t order her newest stock. Hopefully no one will buy it since I’m greedy and want it all to myself. After that I’m going to be buying in huge bulk even more colors from Julia’s Craft Store since her prices are unbelievably good. I mean its ridiculous.

That is my current purchases. I bought a couple more things from another store but I wanted to make sure I got them and I didn’t have the instant paypal funds so I ordered by money order which I can get up the funds by the time I send out the money order which is just in a day or so. I just wanted the extra bits of yarn for upcoming projects. However unfortunately she isn’t responding to my etsy convo. Unfortunately I missed out on one of the items since I wanted to purchase 3 of one particular skein (her 3 are really 6 since for every order she sends 2 skeins. Which is why I buy in bulk there since her prices are freaking amazing) when I first checked there were 3 but someone got to it before I did and bought out one of them so I was only able to buy 2 (4 skeins) of the particular color. I’ll highlight them later. I’ll also take pictures of the new yarn I bought when I’m less lazy aka I really wanna finish up my scarf so I can go back and get a one more reminder on how to bind off properly. I had a real pain in the bought adding my second skein to my scarf and kinda made it funky along with purling where I should have knit THOSE ARE THE ONLY 2 MISTAKES in V 4.0 of the scarf.

Batts, Yarns, Oh My!

Yarns I purchased from EtsyAs you can see from the image to the left I received some of my yarn in the mail today! I received the purchase from Bee’s Knee’s and Must Keep Knitting. I am excited because the colors were better than listed. I need to learn a little more about the yarns so I can figure out which ones the softer ones etc. However the colors were unbelievable.

Bee’s Knees Knitting I purchased the Sunset (pinks and purples) I ordered and was complete idiot because I didn’t see there were 3 batches of the same color. So the owner allowed me the make a 2nd order, combine the two and refund me the difference in shipping. I have to say she was so nice and understanding throughout the whole thing. I have to say she has more yarn I want to buy thats a little pricier and absolutely gorgeous. I will be shopping there again I was so delighted with my purchase!sherbert Now lets go on to the next awesome purchase of mine! This yarn is called Sherbert. I purchased this from Must Keep Knitting. I was excited since the owners pictures depicted the colors a lot darker than what arrived but I couldn’t believe how beautiful the colors really were. I thought they would have more grey to it but the beautiful pastels and light colors just absolutely beautiful. I cannot wait til the books I put on hold at the library (all 9 of them!!) come in so I can start figuring out things I can make with only one skein! I am so excited.

So I’m sure more than half of you (all 3 of my readers hahaha) want to know about my spinning guild class! Well I joined the guild. The guild only cost $25 to join. I rented a wheel (batts$10) I bought a few batts. I signed up for an entire course on dying yarns and roving and batts. The woman at the meeting selling these magnificent and I REALLY am NOT exagerrating..I couldn’t believe the color and quality. Absolutely ridiculously soft… has an etsy shop. New York Attitude. I included that on my etsy list since I have to say her quality is amazing. I cannot wait to use her stuff to spin my first yarn! I have to get my wheel set up and watch the DVD the spinning class gave me along with the wheel. I’m hesitant to use it since I don’t want to waste the batts I bought but I’m sure she has more if I just contact her. I sent her email since she had more batts on her site I must get my hands on!

First Day of Work and Spinning Guild

I am going to the Long Island Spinning Guild tonight. I’m excited. I am joining and renting a spinning wheel.  I’ve been researching them for today. The woman that introduced me to the class is so nice she will be teaching me how to spin for free if I teach her how to maintain/use websites and make her own. I plan on designing one for her so she isn’t up a creek without a paddle looking rather erm.. ugly. I don’t design but I have a staff who does. This website was designed 100% by me. Fixed by Holly and Jenny. hahaha.

I am so excited. I really am going into this head first. I’m excited.  I can’t wait I’m heading out to the meeting early to meet the president of the Guild.

Also today was my first day of work! I was so excited! I found out my title is Office Manager. I didn’t realize I was applying for something rather .. erm .. heavy. I thought I was mostly office help and sales support but I’m fancy so WAHOO!! Its exciting. I only work for 4 hours a day for like 2-3 months which will allow me time to learn to do what I want to do.  I can still show up to work early so I can make sure I am there on time and knit which doesn’t really bother me. I just have to wake up every morning at 5am. Thats the part I’m not so happy with haha.  You have to do what you have to do.

I have been working on my scarf. I have had  a few mess ups and starting it over and over again since if I got to far in the scarf I wouldn’t be able to fix it without making a huge mess of it all and putting more work into fixing it than what went into the scarf. I’ve been having such a good time. I can’t wait until my skeins come in the mail! I put about 9 books on hold at the local library so I can see what books have what so I don’t waste my money. I might make a Binder of all the designs and patterns I want to do so that way I can be like my momma and her recipes! wee.

Reconnection, Shopping Spree and Knitting Class

Sherbert Skein from Must Keep KnittingI have to say this is a must have yarn I wont even share where this yarn is because I don’t want anyone to scoop it out from under me. I cannot wait til I get a little extra cash to pick it up. I don’t know what our budget is going to be since Fil hasn’t gotten his check yet for the week and we already spent my “checks.” I bought the yarn! I purchased this yarn from the Must Keep Knitting Store. I am a big fan of her blog and I loved this coloring. Its 150 yards, since I’m knew I don’t know exactly what I can make with it but I am going to make something! It was $13 + shipping One Skein from Bee’s Knee’s Knittingso it came out to $16.00 total USD. I am so excited! I received a refund on some of the things I returned so as soon as I saw that refund I created an Etsy account and scooped it right on up! I then went and purchased one more skein from Bee’s Knees Knitting it is called Autumn Sunset No. 3.. while I was purchasing it I didn’t notice that there was an Autumn Sunset No. 2 so I contacted the owner and am trying to get No. 2 as well. It’d be nice to get two of these skeins so I can build something larger like a scarf and if left over yarn allows..maybe hand warmers. Who knows? The owner was kind enough to let me add to my order and refund any extra shipping charges I may incur from my mistake. I was able to purchase No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 in this skein. I need to start looking more closely when I am shopping! I am so excited with my new found ability. Well semi-new. I always knew how to knit but I didn’t know how to cast on, bind off, or purl. So this is really exciting for me! I also cannot believe the prices of these yarns some are so cheap! I still went and did a little more shopping at Julia’s Craft Shop. I purchased six (6) skeins from her. All individual skeins that are just so vibrant and beautiful I couldn’t believe her eye for color and vibrancy. Pictures are below. All pictures are provided by the Etsy shop owner. I will do a follow up article on their pictures vs. mine to show the quality/color changes if any.

Julia’s Craft ShopJulia’s Craft ShopJulia’s Craft ShopJulia’s Craft ShopJulia’s Craft ShopJulia’s Craft Shop

I bought more of the skeins from Julia’s Craft store because their price was extremely low. Two out of the six skeins were $10 and the other 4 were only $8. She still has a few more left if you want to pick up whats left over after my shopping spree. I’m sure she’ll love it ;)

So yesterday I took the time to IM a friend of which I thought we had a falling out. Apparently I was wrong since a whole bunch of stuff happened where she couldn’t reply back. I am still hurt since partly I was dropped for a little while but how much are friendships worth to you? I believe a friendship should be able to mend what was broken if it is a real friendship. As I spent the evening talking to her I cleared the air and expressed my feelings over what happens. If you cant be honest with your friends who can you be honest with? Thats like not being honest with yourself. Who you choose as your friends is a reflection of yourself. If you are lying to your friends or not being 100% honest well then you’re lying to yourself. At least thats my personal opinion.

I am excited since I took the class. I managed to learn quickly and was there for 2 approximately two hours. I’m sorry you can’t beat that for $20 dollars and I could have stayed for longer if I wanted but I wanted to come home and get some work done. Which I have done! Jenny has been helping me fix up the site a little bit for things I wanted to do but couldn’t figure out how. I’ll have Holly help me with some of the others. So the class started at 9.30 AM I got there just on time thank God I hate being late. They were really nice and first taught me how to make a slip knot. It was super easy how they explained it I couldn’t believe it!

  1. Take the Yarn and twist it to make it look like the breast cancer ribbon
  2. Swing the Yarn behind and make it look like a no smoking sign
  3. pull the line through the middle and place on your needle
  4. Tighten

my first scarfIt was super simple, then they taught me how to cast on. By making a Tee-Pee and a SlingShot. Which sounds weird but works! I already knew how to knit and then they taught me how to purl. I was excited. I am working on my scarf. Its a really simple pattern: Cast on 42, Knit 2, Purl 2. I haven’t figured out the exact length I want it to be except extra long!

I am really excited I am going to be taking their mistakes and more class, knitting socks, cables, sweaters etc. They have a variety of classes at my local store. I plan on taking all their classes..the list of their classes is below.
